Admissions
Admissions Arrangements
If you would like to visit the school before requesting a placement for your child with the Local Authority Admissions Team, please make an appointment with the school office, who will be happy to show you around.
If you want to apply for a school place you can:
- apply online: https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/education/schools/school-places/apply-for-a-school-place.aspx
- apply using a paper form – telephone 01629 537479 to ask for a form.
Once the school is informed by the Local Authority of the offer of a placement, we will then write to you with our Admissions Procedure. As the school is an academy, any comments can be sent to the admission authority which is “Derby Diocese Academy Trust.”
Reception Admissions
All Reception Class admissions are dealt with centrally via Derbyshire County Council
When applying for a reception place at Stanley Common, the maximum number of admissions we are allowed to take is 12. This is determined by the capacity of the school.
Children are eligible for entry into the Reception Class in September of the School Year in which they are 5 years old.
In-year Admissions
All in-year admissions are dealt with centrally via Derbyshire County Council.
Over-subscription
In the event that there are more applicants than available places, the school will apply the following oversubscription criteria, in order of priority given:
1. Looked After Children (LAC) and previously LAC (PLAC), including those who have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted or became subject to a child arrangement order or special guardianship order. IAPLAC - Internationally Adopted Previously Looked After Children. For children who were in state care outside of England and were then adopted, you must submit evidence with your application so this priority can be verified. The evidence must show your child's adoption (an adoption order or adoption birth certificate); and - that they were in state care outside England (a letter from the state).
2. Children living in the normal area* served by the school at the time of application and admission, who have siblings** attending the school at the time of application and admission.
3. Children living in the normal area* served by the school at the time of application and admission (including those living in another council’s area).
4. Children not living in the normal area served by the school but who have siblings** attending the school at the time of their admission.
5. Other children whose parents have requested a place.
*Please see our admissions policy on our policies page for information on our 'normal area'
** A sibling includes: (a) a half-sibling (b) a legally adopted/fostered child being regarded as a sibling (c) a step-sibling residing in the same family unit (d) a child of a parent’s partner living in the same family unit
