Uniform

We believe that a compulsory code of dress for pupils is important for the following reasons:

  • It helps promote pride in personal appearance and in school and gives the children a sense of belonging.
  • Parents find that over a period of time a uniform is the cheapest way of clothing their children.

Our list of recommended clothing is given below and can be purchased from Loop School Wear or Hamiltons in Ilkeston.

Boys

School sweatshirt  Royal blue with school logo
School fleece Royal blue with school logo
Trousers  Grey or black
Shirt  White
Polo shirt White with school logo or plain white
Shoes Black or blue

Girls

School sweatshirt  Royal blue with school logo
School fleece Royal blue with school logo
Cardigan Royal blue with school logo or grey
Skirt/Trousers  Grey or black
Pinafore dress Grey
Blouse White
Polo shirt White with school logo or plain white
Shoes Black or blue or white (for Summer)

As an option for summer we suggest a white polo shirt for both boys and girls or a blue and white gingham dress for girls.  Both boys and girls may like to wear shorts.  Embroidered sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts are all available from school.

PE

All the children are expected to change for PE and games lessons.  For indoors they will each need plimsolls, a white t-shirt and a pair of black shorts.  If preferred, girls may wear a leotard.  In addition, the children need trainers and appropriate clothing, i.e. joggers and sweatshirt for outdoor games during the colder weather.

For swimming sessions please note that boys must wear swimming trunks and not long swimming shorts.  Girls must wear a one piece swimsuit.  In addition a swimming hat must be worn to cover long hair.

A draw string bag should be provided, boldly named, in which PE kit can be stored and can be safely left on the child’s peg.  PE and book bags are available from Hamiltons in Ilkeston.

Art and Craft

Although we encourage children to take care when working with art and craft materials, and use only water soluble paints and glues, it is advisable for each of them to have an old adult size shirt or apron in school which they can wear buttoned down the back when painting or using other potentially messy materials.

It is important that all articles of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name, as all uniform looks the same!
